The Thousand Stars Foundation has organized several conferences and seminars on Buddhism, spirituality, science and Tibetan/Himalayan studies since 2004. The purpose of such conferences is to enhance dialogues among academics, writers, thinkers, practitioners and general public. This year the Foundation is pleased to organize a conference “Embracing Society with Love and Compassion” to urge society to realize the importance of cultivating love and compassion, which will lead to inner peace, world peace and ultimate happiness.

1. As there are no registration fees, any supports for refreshments and snacks will be appreciated.
2. Simultaneous translators are welcome so that our international friends can also participate actively in the conference.
3. Anyone would like to have an experience of working with Thousand Stars staff can volunteer to be part of the organizing team – helping with time keeping, preparing hand outs, receiving guests, registering, giving technical supports and taking care of everyone at the conference.

มูลนิธิพันดาราได้จัดประชุมเสวนาเกี่ยวกับพระพุทธศาสนา จิตวิญญาณ วิทยาศาสตร์ และทิเบต/หิมาลัยศึกษา มาตั้งแต่ปี 2547 การประชุมเสวนานี้เป็นการให้พื้นที่แก่นักวิชาการ นักคิด นักเขียน ผู้ปฏิบัติธรรม และประชาชนทั่วไปได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับประเด็นต่างๆที่น่าสนใจ ในปี 2552 นี้ มูลนิธิจะจัดประชุมเรื่อง “โอบกอดสังคมด้วยรักและกรุณา” เพื่อให้สังคมได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของการบ่มเพาะความรักความกรุณาอันจะนำ ไปสู่สันติสุขในจิตใจ ในสังคมและในระดับสากล

Trip to Tibet, July 2009

Fancy a chance to explore the various shades of Tibet? The Thousand Stars Foundation is organising a trip, led by Associate Professor Dr Krisdawan Hongladarom, founder of the Thousand Stars Foundation and a scholar with in-depth knowledge of Tibetan language, culture and Buddhism.

Participants will visit Potala Palace, the holy temple of Jokhang, Barkhor market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. The trip also offers a unique opportunity to picnic and camp by the turquoise-coloured Lake of Nam Tso, visit nomad tents and pay homage to the sacred Tsurpu temple.

The trip costs 72,000 baht per person, inclusive of round-trip airfare, airport taxes, accommodation (double occupancy), all transportation, meals and entrance fees to the temples and services. There is an extra charge of 4,000 baht for single-room occupancy. A deposit of 30,000 baht is required at the time of booking and final payment is due by June 19.

Proceeds after costs will go to the construction of the Tara Great Stupa for Peace and Harmony, the first Tibetan stupa in Thailand, at the Kadiravana Retreat Centre in Hua Hin.

ใน การเสวนากันครั้งนี้ เราจะพูดกันเกี่ยวกับหนังสือเรื่อง "การเห็นทางธรรมสามระดับ" ของเตชุง ริมโปเช ซึ่งได้แปลเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว การเห็นทางธรรมสามระดับหมายถึง การเห็นอันไม่บริสุทธิ์ของผู้ที่ยังติดข้องอยู่ในสังสารวัฏ ซึ่งก็ได้แก่สัตว์โลกทั่วไป การเห็นเชิงประสบการณ์ของผู้ปฏิบัติธรรมบนเส้นทางของมหายาน ซึ่งเริ่มมองเห็นแนวทางของการบรรลุพระพุทธภาวะ เพื่อช่วยเหลือสรรพสัตว์ให้พ้นทุกข์ กับการเห็นอันบริสุทธิ์ของพระพุทธเจ้า แนวทางทั้งหมดนี้ก็ได้แก่แนวทางการปฏิบัติบนเส้นทางของมหายานทั้งหมดนั่นเอง เราจะคุยกันเรื่องนี้กับเรื่องอื่นๆที่สนใจกัน

This Saturday May 30, 2009 the Thousand Stars Foundation is organizing two events to celebrate the month of Vesak:

(1) Monthly Pandara Seminar on Mahayana Buddhism. 10 am - 12 noon.
The topic for this Saturday is "Three Visions in Mahayana Buddhism" by Dr. Soraj Hongladarom.

(2) White Tara Practice. 1-2.30 pm.
White Tara is a bodhisattva of compassion. The practice leads to long life and healing blessings. We will emphasize on meditation and mantra recitation for this session.

The Thousand Stars Foundation, in cooperation with Sukkasart Institute for Healing Arts would like to invite you to join a special full moon retreat to commemorate Saga Dawa, the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinirvana. Another purpose of this retreat is to create positive energy for the Tara Great Stupa, a sacred structure dedicated to peace and harmony, to be constructed at Khadiravana Center.

The retreat will be conducted at Vasutara Sala and the mantra stupa of clear light allowing us time to reflect on our inner being and to recite the mantra of love, as a way to cultivate compassion in our heart. The merit from this group retreat will bring inner peace and happiness, prosperity in our life, and peace and harmony in the world. It is also a great way to make merit and purify ourselves.

Khadiravana is a Tibetan retreat center located on Hua-Hin Palau road, Nongplub district, Hua-Hin. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and forest, the center is an ideal place for meditation and for us to experience the beauty of nature.

8-9 pm Circumambulate the Mantra Stupa & Vasutara Sala, make light offerings, and generate love and compassion at the Great Stupa site
