Joining the Sangha of Pandara Volunteers

Another Way of Contribution and How to Put Dharma into Everyday Living

The Thousand Stars (Pandara) Foundation is growing with many new activities and projects. We realize how important it is to have friends work with us to achieve our goals of preserving eastern and Tibetan ancient wisdom, bringing happiness to sentient beings and contributing to world peace.

Volunteering is an opportunity to share your knowledge, skills, resources with others. More importantly, it is a way to transform yourself on this Bodhisattva path. With Dharma in your heart, difficult work does not bring frustration or despair. Instead, it is a chance for contemplation, reflection, a reminder to be more mindful, more aware and more compassionate, a way to deal with personal obstacles, and an exercise to put Dharma practice into everyday living.

Upcoming projects that need volunteers:

1. Conference on “Mind and Life” and Exhibitions on Shanti Tara Maha Stupa and Tibetan Medicine, August 29-30, 2008.

2. Exhibitions on Thousand Stars Foundation and Tibetan Medicine at Chulalongkorn Hospital, September 1-2, 2008.

3. Project of Growing 10,000 Khadira Trees at Tara Khadiravana Retreat Center. We’ll dedicate our merit to His Majesty the King for his selfless work on forest preservation. Expected dates: September or October.

4. Newsletter Project: Sarn Pandara#8

5. Ambassadors of Peace Project

Volunteer qualifications:

- Want to give and want to learn from others

- Interested in the Foundation’s activities and appreciate it’s goals and objectives

-Committed to the works assigned

A volunteer needs not know anything about Tibet, does not have to be a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. Pandara Sangha is a group that goes beyond sectarianism, ethnicity and any discriminatory label.

การประชุม “จิตกับชีวิต” และนิทรรศการพระศานติตารามหาสถูปและการแพทย์ทิเบต
มูลนิธิพันดาราขอเรียนเชิญทุกท่านเข้าร่วมประชุมวิชาการเรื่อง “จิตกับชีวิต: มุมมองของศาสนากับวิทยาศาสตร์” และชมนิทรรศการพิเศษ วันที่ 29-30 สิงหาคม 2551 ณ ห้อง 210 อาคารมหาจุฬาลงกรณ์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย มีอาหารว่างบริการ ไม่เสียค่าลงทะเบียน สมัครด่วนภายใน 22 สิงหาคมนี้ ที่งานจะมีสินค้าทิเบตหิมาลัยจำหน่ายด้วยราคาพิเศษประจำปี (ลด 20% ทุกชิ้น) รายได้สนับสนุนกิจกรรมมูลนิธิพันดารา

ศาลา “วสุตารา” เพื่อการปฏิบัติธรรมและเรียนรู้ภูมิปัญญาโบราณ

ตั้งแต่เดือนเมษายนที่ผ่านมา มูลนิธิพันดาราได้สร้างศาลาวสุตาราที่ภัทรกัลป์ตาราขทิรวัน หัวหิน มุลนิธิขอขอบคุณทุกท่านที่ได้ทำบุญสร้างศาลาหลังนี้และขอขอบคุณกลุ่มสถาปนิก ของมูลนิธิ ที่ได้ออกแบบศาลาอันงดงามที่มีลักษณะเหมือนสถูปประภัสสร คาดว่าการก่อสร้างจะแล้วเสร็จในเดือน กันยายน ศกนี้ หลังจากนั้น เราจะจัดการอบรมและสวดมนตร์ภาวนาซึ่งทางมูลนิธิจะเรียน ให้สมาชิกและเพื่อนๆได้ทราบต่อไป

ร่วมทำบุญและแบ่งปันกับมูลนิธิพันดารา
เพื่อส่งเสริมกิจกรรมต่างๆ อาทิ การสร้างศาลาวสุตารา การสร้างพระศานติตารามหาสถูป การทำสารพันดารา การเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดประชุม การให้ความช่วยเหลือเด็ก สามเณรี พระจำศีลในทิเบต และกิจกรรมอื่นๆอันเป็นประโยชน์ต่อสังคม โดยโอนเงิน

"Tibetan Calligraphy Course"

A Unique Tibetan Art Comes to Thailand

Organized by the Thousand Stars Foundation

The Thousand Stars Foundation is pleased to announce a rare opportunity for interested persons

to have a glimpse of this special art using Tibetan script. This is the first time that the training of Tibetan

calligraphy is offered in Thailand. Practicing calligraphy enhances concentration, effort, patience,

and most importantly peace of mind.

Date: Sunday August 10, 2008 (9 am - 4 pm)

Venue: Thousand Stars Foundation House, Ladprao 11

Registration :

• Both Thais and non-Thais are welcome
• No prior knowledge of Tibetan is required.

• Fees: 700 baht for a one-day workshop.
• The fees include the instructor's honorarium, writing materials (pens, ink and paper), lunch and snack.

มุลนิธิพันดาราจะจัดอบรมหลักสูตรเรื่อง "โศลกมูลฐานว่าด้วยทางสายกลาง" ของท่านนาคารชุน ในวันเสาร์และอาทิตย์ที่ ๙ และ ๑๐ สิงหาคม พ.ศ" ๒๕๕๑ ที่บ้านมูลนิธิ บ้านเลขที่ ๖๙๕ ซอย ๑๑ ถนนลาดพร้าว ใกล้ๆห้างคารูฟูร์ลาดพร้าว

ท่านนาคารชุนเป็นปราชญ์คนสำคัญคนหนึ่งใน พระพุทธศาสนา งานเขียนของท่านเป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลาย โดยเฉพาะในจีน ญี่ปุ่น ทิเบต เกาหลี เวียตนาม ประเทศที่นับถือพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทก็รู้จักชื่อท่านเป็นอย่างดีเช่นกัน เพียงแต่เราไม่ค่อยมีโอกาสจะศึกษางานของท่านอย่างจริงจังมากนัก

" โศลกมูลฐานว่าด้วยทางสายกลาง" แปลมาจากงานเรื่อง "มูลมัธยมกการิกา" จากต้นฉบับภาษาอังกฤษ โดยเทียบกันหลายฉบับ นับเป็นงานแปลงานอันสำคัญยิ่งชิ้นนี้เป็นครั้งแรกเป็นภาษาไทย ในหลักสูตรอบรมนี้เราก็จะอ่านงานแปลฉบับภาษาไทยกันอย่างละเอียด เพื่อทำความเข้าใจคำสอนอันสำคัญนี้ อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ยิ่งแก่การปฏิบัติธรรม นอกจากนี้ก็ยังได้ประโยชน์ทางอ้อมในการใช้ชีวิต รวมทั้งการเข้าใจเรื่องราวต่างๆในวิชาการสมัยใหม่อีกด้วย

เนื้อหา หลักของ "โศลกมูลฐาน" ได้แก่คำสอนเรื่อง "ทางสายกลาง" อันได้แก่ "ศูนยตา" หรือ "ความว่าง" ความว่างนี้เป็นทางสายกลายระหว่างความมีกับความไม่มี ซึ่งไม่ว่าจะเป็นอย่างใด ก็เป็นเหตุแห่งทุกข์ทั้งสิ้น พระพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงสอนเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ไว้ในพระสูตร และท่านนาคารชุนก็ได้นำคำสอนนี้ไปอธิบายและขยายความอย่างละเอียดพิสดาร เพื่อตอบปัญหาที่อาจเกิดขึ้นในแง่มุมต่างๆ
