Drawing as an Art of Meditation and Relaxation
The Thousand Stars Foundation is pleased to invite interested persons, practitioners and students to attend a course on "Drawing as an Art of Meditation and Relaxation" on Saturday 8 May 2010 (9 am-4 pm) at the Foundation House, 695 Ladprao Soi 11, Bangkok.

Drawing is a way to meditate. Medical experiment shows that drawing and painting can help children who have problem with concentration. This course combines drawing with meditation and relaxation. It does not emphasize on beauty and convention but on mindfulness. Learners need not have any background in drawing or painting.

Content of the Course
1. Tibetan drawing style - combination of drawing with meditation and visualization. The skill is imperative for thangka painters.
2. Free drawing style - drawing with a sense of let go, no expectation.

10.30-11.00 Break

12.30-13.15 Lunch
13.15-15.30 Meditation and mindfulness
13.30-14.30 Free drawing I

15.00-16.00 Free drawing II

Course Fee
700 baht including lunch, snacks and drawing materials. Learners need to register in advance by 30 April 2010.

About the Instructor
Ajarn Supachok Chumsai Na Ayudhya
B.F.A Silpakorn University
Aj. Supachok has studied art in various religious traditions, such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. His areas of interest include Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist art styles, history and development of art, and comparative art. At present, Aj. Supachok is an independent artist creating contemporary Buddhist art and serves as a special lecturer at Faculty of Fine Arts, Burapa University and at Philosophy Department, Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University.

Paining of Buddha image by 10th Karmapa. It does not conform convention but is a great piece of art which expresses the painter's sincerity and purity of mind.
