Trip to Tibet, July 2009

Fancy a chance to explore the various shades of Tibet? The Thousand Stars Foundation is organising a trip, led by Associate Professor Dr Krisdawan Hongladarom, founder of the Thousand Stars Foundation and a scholar with in-depth knowledge of Tibetan language, culture and Buddhism.

Participants will visit Potala Palace, the holy temple of Jokhang, Barkhor market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. The trip also offers a unique opportunity to picnic and camp by the turquoise-coloured Lake of Nam Tso, visit nomad tents and pay homage to the sacred Tsurpu temple.

The trip costs 72,000 baht per person, inclusive of round-trip airfare, airport taxes, accommodation (double occupancy), all transportation, meals and entrance fees to the temples and services. There is an extra charge of 4,000 baht for single-room occupancy. A deposit of 30,000 baht is required at the time of booking and final payment is due by June 19.

Proceeds after costs will go to the construction of the Tara Great Stupa for Peace and Harmony, the first Tibetan stupa in Thailand, at the Kadiravana Retreat Centre in Hua Hin.

Buddha Relics from Tibet

There will be a display of Buddha relics from Tibet and ancient statues including Green Tara and White Tara at Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Hall 2 on 28 November -7 December 2008. The event is organized by Export Department, Yannawa Temple, and Ajarn Worathanut, a fangshui master. The Thousand Stars Foundation is invited to help with the Tibetan procession, which will be broadcast on Channels 5 & 11 on Saturday November 29 from 8.30 am. Two mantra stupas of about 2 meter high are specially created for this event.

All interested public are welcome. There are no registration fees. The event is timely when our country is facing challenges, conflicts and political turmoil.
